OK, so having a few technical difficulties with the blog from cell phones so ignore those crazy messages below that don't make any sense, but we are working it out....
WE JUST GOT TO TENNESSEE!!! Another 5 hours or so until Nashville. We made great time so far. Driving the RV isn't as horrible as we thought. We stay in the right lane mainly to avoid crazy drivers and go at our own comfortable pace. When a truck passes us, you can feel the RV shift out and then pull us back into the lane, it takes some getting used to.
Last night was funny. We drove until like 12:30am and planned on just sleeping at a Wal-Mart in Roanoke, Virginia (a few hours south of where we picked up the RV). We found a supercenter Wal-Mart, parked the RV, and decided this was where we'd be spending our 1st night sleep.... Until, of course, a security car came and told us that the manager at this wal mart location changed the rules recently and no one is allowed to stay overnight. He guided us another wal mart approx. 5 miles away (they're everywhere!) and luckily that location allowed overnight guests. Finding the alternate Wal Mart location was a challenge, since the GPS guided us to a vacant lot, so we ended up calling the location and a very nice local, Wal Mart employee told us directions. She also ensured us in her very southern accent that many RV's spend nights in their parking lot.
Sleeping in the RV was veryyy interesting. We kept laughing at what we were actually doing. Sleeping in a RV in a parking lot.... wild!!! Allie slept in the pull out drawer/bed which is above the driver and passenger seats. Jaclyn crashed on the pull out couch, Steph on the table that coverts into a bed, Aileen on a blow up mattress, and Meg and Jul in the back bedroom. We all fit, but agreed it wasn't the most comfortable, but Hey, we survived. Tonight we are camping outside of Nashville, the campsite is booked already and we should get there at a decent hour to have plenty of time to cook, make a fire, hang out, and enjoy the fresh Tennessee air! We'll be able to hook up the RV and have plenty of electricity, internet, etc. Since we can't use electricity in the RV without having the generator on (which we didn't realize, and have limited generator usage each day), and no internet unless we are using an air card (thanks Fred!)... The campgrounds provide all of these for us included in the cost. I think it was $24 for us to spend the night at this campsite! Can't wait to get there =) -Steph
ps- happy birthday Dad !! keep an eye on us during this trip...please!
I know he'll be watching over you girls! Be safe and have a blast!!! XOXO
